Industrial Plow Mixers
Intensive mixing for cohesive powders and demanding formulations.
Explore plow mixing when your process needs active material movement, controlled liquid addition or a granulation step.

How a plow mixer works.
Rotating plow-shaped tools lift and disperse the material bed, creating strong particle movement through the chamber. Where required, optional high-speed choppers help address agglomerates. Tool speed, fill level and the formulation determine the process behavior.

Match the mixing action to the duty.

Cohesive powder blends
Review flow behavior and the strength of agglomerates.

Liquid addition
Coordinate spray rate and distribution with material movement.

Granulation duties
Define binder addition, particle-size targets and the desired endpoint.
Specify more than mixing speed.
01
Product abrasiveness & tool wear
Specify material characteristics and evaluate contact-surface requirements.
02
Chopper duty & liquid distribution
Match mixing intensity and liquid addition to the formulation.
03
Access & inspection
Define cleaning, inspection and changeover requirements.
04
Discharge & downstream handling
Plan the complete route from the mixer to the next process.
Heating, cooling and vacuum options.
Plow mixer configurations with heating and cooling jackets, as well as vacuum processing, are available through QuantumX. Define your temperature range, vacuum duty, vapor handling and required endpoint as part of the specification.

Plow mixer questions.
When are choppers useful?
They may help break agglomerates or distribute additions; their need depends on the product and target result.
Can one unit mix and dry?
A purpose-designed QuantumX vacuum and thermal configuration can be evaluated. A standard atmospheric mixer is not automatically vacuum-rated.
