Ribbon Mixers & Industrial Ribbon Blenders

A practical foundation for consistent powder blending.

Specify a horizontal ribbon mixer around your ingredients, working batch and discharge requirements—not nominal vessel volume alone.

PerMix ribbon mixer

How a ribbon mixer works.

Inner and outer ribbons move material in opposing axial directions while turning the powder bed. This circulation redistributes ingredients through the batch. Blend results depend on fill level, particle characteristics, mixing time and the loading sequence.

Build the specification around the product.

01

Working capacity

Size from bulk density and usable fill range.

02

Liquid addition

Review liquid loading, spray distribution and agglomeration risk.

03

Cleanability

Define changeover needs, access and contact finish.

04

Discharge & seals

Match the outlet, seals and downstream handling to the product.

Ribbon mixing with heating, cooling or vacuum.

Ribbon mixer configurations with heating and cooling jackets, as well as vacuum processing, are available through QuantumX. Define your temperature range, vacuum duty, vapor handling and required endpoint as part of the specification.

Ribbon mixer questions.

How is mixer capacity selected?

Use batch mass and bulk density to calculate working volume, then check the recommended fill range. Total vessel volume is not the same as usable batch capacity.

Can a ribbon mixer add liquids to powders?

Many duties can be considered; the liquid loading, viscosity and required distribution must be reviewed. Share your formulation and addition sequence.
